Duncan Harriss DM FRCS (Urol) was appointed a consultant urologist in August 1997 at the Nottingham City Hospital, Nottingham. He became clinical director and helped to design and build the Nottingham Urology Centre which transformed the urology department in Nottingham.
Prior to becoming a consultant urologist he was awarded a higher degree of Doctor of Medicine by the University of Nottingham for a research thesis on urinary bladder smooth muscle function.
As a clinician, Duncan Harriss has a major interest in the treatment of urological cancer which encompasses prostate, testicular, renal and bladder cancer. He underwent specialist training in Denver, Colorado, in radical prostatectomy. He was the first consultant urologist in Nottingham to specialize in the treatment of Prostate cancer as a consequence.
Mr Harriss has a diverse private practice at the BMI Park Hospital and the Nottingham Woodthorpe Hospital, both in Nottingham, UK, where he not only includes the care of patients with urological cancers, particularly prostate cancer, but also of those with non-malignant urological disorders such as testicular pain, urinary problems and botox for bladders. He also runs one of the largest Vasectomy Reversal Clinics in the UK.
His focus for all his urology patients, male and female, has been individual attention and continuity of care. It is very important that his patients understand that they can seek help from him whenever they need help. He ensures that patients are seen promptly, diagnosed quickly and treated appropriately at all times.
Mr Harriss is married with two children, is a keen and good golfer and loves skiing.
